Thanks Alison I wondered what she was referring to as I have red spots on my tummy and above up to my chest. They are pin head size but not a rash, I'd say about a dozen of them and they're slightly raised. look a bit like small blood blisters. I'm not on any meds though so maybe they're age spots

Hi

I havnt seen the chat. But you can get Purpurea ( small blood spots under the skin if you have low platelets which are sometimes caused by drugs. In my case I suffered from auto immune idiopathic cyto penic purpurea for several years before developing Ra. That was believed to have been caused by an antibody to my platelets hence bleeding tendency. I think petechia cant spell it is another type of pin prick rash ( v much smaller and literally pin prick different to the blood spots caused by tiny bleeds due to low platelets.Sorry about the rubbish typing and sorry if you meant something else

fiona

ps low platelet spots are darker red and flat underneath the skin surface. Also they are a little bit bigger than a pin prick in my experience.

Thanks all, I'd already decided mine were age spots but when she talked about red spots I started thinking mine maybe something else. I am right arn't I, you can get pin head size slightly raised red spots here and there as you get older.

yes you are, I have them too. Something else for us to put up with as we get older!

Most blood spots tend to be harmless,I've got a few over my body too and they have never caused me any problems. However if you are at all worried I would advise getting them checked out by your GP at some time, sudden changes in the skin should never be ignored.

Good luck

it is the pin prick rash which is the one of concern

. I have had this..

The "blood spots some of you refer to are scattered different sizes and are slightly raised( these are what some of you are referring too! these can be "age spots but are caused by blood capillary.

Ask sparkle and I have said.. the pin prick rash/.. like felt tip dots on the surface.. often on arms when first appear ,or purpurea.. which is mottled and under the skin surface are two dangerous ones.. any thing new should be examined by a health professional..

see the sun has got his hat on blog for further info ..

the blog the sun is back but keep your hat on was posted on june 15th? by burgundy coral.. the answers about rashes can also be found by going to methotrexate on tags.. and finding the blog post that, I have just found finding info/ answers on old blog posts is quite difficult.. due to the large number. of blog posts.. some people writing loads regularly!

I had red spots over my legs - looked like a measles rash. Rheumy took me off Humira to be on the safe side and put me onto Enbrel. No more red spots.
