So tired...

I have been so busy attending a CHIP-Comprehensive Health Improvement Program 3 times a week all month, and then an intense 3 day CERT-Community Emergency Response Training that I have run myself down. I had a sore throat on Thurs & Friday, and I lost my voice yesterday. Today it is going between a whisper & a croak.

But I am learning so much about eating right and exercising and osteoporosis and fats and protein and triage and putting out fires, etc etc etc...

They mentioned RA in last night's meeting, but that's all. There was no education or explanation of symptoms or meds or deformities, etc. I wish that they would have spent as much time on it like they did with diabetes and heart disease. We had a medical Dr there that spoke about osteoporosis, and he said it can be cured-Except for those that take prednisone & Mtx. Great-not.

I have been trying to get in 10,000 steps daily, but have not been consistent at all. Some days I don't get any and other days I surpass. At least I walked with my friend in the mall this morning & we did an extra 2 laps, so we got in 4 1/2 miles. I was really dragging at the end. We didn't have as much fun as usual, since I can't talk much with this raspy voice. Fortunately, I don't have a cough, yet.

I got to play with 3 nieces this last weekend, they were staying with my Dad & SMom while my Sister had a romantic weekend for her birthday. They are 13, 11, and 7. They built some cool forts with Lincoln Logs and I arranged Fisher Price people into groups on the carpet. I put a mother pushing a baby carriage & 2 other kids racing in cars, then people in cars & stuff. I thought it was funny that the girls weren't playing with the people until I did. Then they would sneak the people off to their forts while I was working on another arrangement. ha. I had a lot of fun!

I suppose that I should start the dishwasher & work a bit on my taxes. I have a goal to have them done by Saturday-my birthday. I'm not at all excited about it, but I guess 44 is just a number.

It's dreary & raining today, and my L pinky is stiff & swollen, so I'll stay inside & keep warm.

My left pinky is one of the main culprits too - always plays up most when I'm going to flare. Happy birthday for Saturday youngster (i'm 49!) TTx

What a lot you're doing - no wonder you've run yourself down. So put some of that healthy eating learning into practice.. but hope you're going to indulge in soemthing special for your birthday. Even at 44 you still need cake. Px

Have a really Happy, Fun Birthday, Christine! Just maybe by the weekend you will be able to go for your walk in the great outdoors! Temps are rising, we get to see 50 on Thurs! I used to think, when it got to 50, it was time to wash windows! Ha! Not washing any windows.
How would you like a brief vacation and come East to Ohio, I am having my rt. wrist reconstructed on March 12, will be at home, would love company! I have a large Guest Room just waiting for guests. Anyways, if ever you do want to come over this way, know you are welcome to stay here. I wouldn't recomend Northern Ohio in March, it can be nasty, cold and damp. April and May are lovely.
Are you still attending classes, or are you done educating for awhile. It really does sound interesting! get rested, take the rest of the week off. Cheers on you birthday, I'm not sure I remember 44! L.xxx

Thank you for the invite Loret, maybe someday I will come to visit you. I went to NY once while I was in college, in March for Spring Break, & I had a flare with their cold & wet weather. Spring & Fall are the best for my joints. We are to have 50 tomorrow, yippee, I can't wait for Spring.

Somehow, I never had geography in school, and I have to admit, I'm not certain where Ohio is. I just dug out an atlas to see, Ok, it is to the East of Indiana. I've never been to Ohio, but I have been to every state surrounding it.

Good luck with your wrist surgery in March, Loret. The short term is painful & hard, but the long term is so good & SO worth it.

My voice is rough but it is coming back, slowly.
Have a great day.
Christine
